Occupy Nova Scotia Visits Wal-Mart

Members of Occupy Nova Scotia visited a local Walmart store in Halifax yesterday, unfurled a banner and read a prepared statement on the dangers of mass consumerism. The group used the now-famous "people's mic" to draw attention to itself, and left the store chanting "buy local." As the protest lasted only a few minutes, Walmart was unable to evict the protesters violently, as Halifax Regional Police did on November 11th in Victoria Park.

The Chronicle-Herald's Eva Hoare bizarrely says that "no injuries were reported" at the protest, which is somewhat akin to saying that no live rhinoceroses were seen at the scene, or that a flock of medieval monks did not circle the group in Gregorian chant.

The same Herald article goes on to say that Halifax police will "monitor" Occupy's plans to have rolling flash-mob actions of this type.
