I am a volunteer with the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition and currently participating in the organisation of Powershift 2012 as well as community based activism. I am a wannabe journalist; I write for the local leftist paper The Leveller and want to expand the presence of alternative media in Ottawa. I've been an active organiser in the Canadian climate movement since 2006. As a founding member of the CYCC – Ottawa chapter, and Climate Justice Ottawa, and an organiser in Powershift 09, I participated in key events and witnessed multiple defeats and victories of the movement. I believe in grassroots organising as the effective strategy to achieve ecological justice and stand up against other injustices. I am also a feminist and an anti-war activist and has been actively trying to connect with other movements and learn about the interlinkages and similarities.
I was part of the media and communication team of Canadian Youth Delegation to the UNFCCC Climate negotiations, in Durban, South Africa, in December, 2011.
In my free time, if any, I enjoy reading, vegetarian cooking, gardening, biking, sewing, knitting and writing/ blogging.
I am an aspiring environmental, science, and news journalist. My writing includes spoken word, fiction, and journalism, mostly in English but sometimes in Russian and Hebrew.
I was born in the U.S.S.R, but grew up in the West Bank of Israel/Palestine and occasionally in Brooklyn, NYC. Currently, I'm based in Ottawa where I organize with various coalition, campaigns, and social justice groups. My educational background is in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Guelph.
