Natascia Lypny, a Montreal native, is a second year journalism student at the University of King's College. She is also pursuing sociology studies at Dalhousie University. Natascia writes regularly for King's monthly newspaper, The Watch, and is the acting President of the Journalists for Human Rights chapter at her school. She is heavily involved with the King's Theatrical Society and other areas of school life. Previous to her involvement with the Halifax Media Co-op, Natascia wrote a column for the Montreal Examiner and contributed to Sound on Sight.
Born in Halifax, grew up in Sackville NS, my background is plant science and environmental studies. I write a bit and am interested in current events, politics, music, philosophy.
To RESCUE people from poverty, addiction and despair, by offering emergency help, such as food, clothing and shelter, life changing recovery programs, and the Gospel Message.
Sometimes the struggles we're fighting surround us and it looks like walls are forming like a prison. It's a recapitulation of the society that's based on separating, dividing a conquering and we're feeding into what we were born to believe in, changing the subject but not the larger construct.
I'm the Spoken Word Coordinator at CKDU 88.1 FM campus community radio in Halifax. I coordinate the CKDU News Collective and host a weekly hour-long radio show called Resistance Radio, Tuesdays at 5:30 PM, and the Thursday edition of Operation Wake Up!, (monday to friday, 8 am to 9 am), both on CKDU. I'm also involved in Project Accompaniment and Solidarity Colombia (PASC) as an international accompanier and a member of People's Global Action - Montreal.
