I've worked in a women's centre for about 20 years helping women living in poverty with issues of welfare policy, inadequate housing, family violence, etc. I'm working on a MA in Adult Education (distance, St. F. X. U.) the focus of which is the change in welfare policy that made it virtually impossible for single moms on welfare to go to university (which I had the benefit of doing when I was a single mom in the '80s). I have grown kids and young grandkids and care very much about the kind of envronment and political and financial systems we are creating for them to have to deal with.
