March on Climate Change: November 29/2015

KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) -- By all accounts, yesterday, November 29, 2015, was the largest international gathering on climate action in history. Marchers from Sydney, Australia, to Sao Paolo, Brazil, and even in Paris, France, took to the streets to demand that the world's leaders come up with firm greenhouse gas emission targets - and measures to meet this targets – in the upcoming United Nations climate conference in Paris, known as 'COP21'. Official counts from Halifax, Nova Scotia, had between 610 – 650 marchers taking part in an afternoon rally which wound its way through the downtown core. Will the world's leaders be able to come to legally binding commitments to mitigate climate change? The next several days of meetings will tell. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from yesterday's rally.
