Support blooms when cultivating our common roots

by Common Roots Urban Farm

Halifax, Nova Scotia, February 11, 2014 —Common Roots Urban Farm is pleased to announce the launch of their upcoming season; it’s now ripe and ready for donations and sponsorship.  Last year the farm produced and delivered 1650 lbs of healthy food for the Parker Street Food Bank.  Plans are in place to exceed that amount this year.  To succeed they are looking for local businesses, organizations and individuals to  sponsor a share in the ‘Kynock Parker Street’ Food Bank CSA.  The goal is to raise $10,000 by March 1st, these funds will allow them to hire their farmer to lead the season and purchase necessary materials.
“Not only does this get healthy food to folks who need it, but it helps build community capacity to grow, eat, and appreciate seasonal, local, healthy food,” says Jayme Melrose, Project Coordinator.
Join Common Roots Urban Farm on Saturday February 22nd from 3pm - 5pm at P’lovers (1443 South Park Street) and 9am to 2 pm at the Seaport Farmer’s Market.   Come, ask, learn & support: an opportunity to discover more about The Common Roots Urban Farm.
