Food Secure Canada’s 8th National Assembly - Waves of Change: Sustainable Food For All

Save the Date! November 13 – 16, 2014

by Activating Change Together for Community Food Security (ACT for CFS)

At the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, Halifax, Nova Scotia

We’re co-hosting the 8th biennial National Assembly here in Nova Scotia November 13-16, 2014.  The Assembly will bridge food movements on land and sea to deepen our thinking on food justice and to advance our work on the People’s Food Policy.  The Assembly promises to be thought-provoking and inspiring as we share and learn from each other about how to build a better future for food in Canada.  With leaders of the food movement from coast to coast to coast, we will deepen our knowledge and skills and create opportunities for dialogue, mutual learning and skills building for groups and individuals to collaborate and create waves of change It promises to bridge food movements on land and sea, to deepen our thinking on food justice and to advance our work on the People’s Food Policy.

Food Secure Canada, FoodARC , the Nova Scotia Food Security Network, and the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN) are all partnering to make this a great event.  ACORN’s annual conference (their 15th) will run November 12-14 in the same location, providing a great opportunity for joint events and conversations.  We are also working in collaboration with the other Atlantic provinces through the Prince Edward Island Food Security Network, New Brunswick Food Security Action Network, the Food Security Network of Newfoundland and Labrador and others. This assembly will build on the success of our last seven assemblies and the innovative work of the food movement across the Atlantic provinces and elsewhere in Canada.

Watch for more emails soon for volunteer opportunities – we will need your help in spreading the word, planning exciting local hosting activities (e.g., tours, feasts, etc.), and more!   Please consider including this in your travel plans for this year and feel free to forward this to others.
