On Saturday September 8th, the Nature Trust and Acadia University will be signing the first conservation easement protecting university lands in Canada. Help us celebrate the protection of the spectacular Bon Portage Island -- Nova Scotia’s newest coastal conservation lands.
This groundbreaking project is the first of its kind in Canada. The partnership between Acadia and the Nature Trust is significant in the long-term protection of Nova Scotia’s natural habitats and unique coastal species. New protected areas arising from the partnership will advance coastal conservation in the province, and set a new standard for land stewardship by academic institutions across the country.
Speakers will be Nature Trust Executive Director Bonnie Sutherland, Acadia University Vice-President Academic Tom Herman, and the Honourable Sterling Belliveau, Minister of the Environment, who will bring greetings from the province.
Media kits and photos will be provided.
Where: Woods Harbour Community Centre, 6881 Highway 3, Central Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia.
