» More information

The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative has just turned 40! You are invited to celebrate with us at a special Anniversary Spotlight Screening at the Atlantic Film Festival on Sept. 17th.  We have programmed a 'best of' screening that includes early work by some of the region's most established and accomplished filmmakers. Experimental, documentary, animated and dramatic shorts are all on display in this varied program that spans the past four decades of filmmaking at the co-op.

The screening includes work by AFCOOP members who were instrumental in developing the independent filmmaking community in Halifax such as instructor and hands-on animator Helen Hill, auteur filmmaker Andrea Dorfman and the iconic, award-winning Jim MacSwain. Recent films include Cape Breton based filmmaker Ashley McKenzie's raw drama "When You Sleep" and one of the most successful films to come out of AFCOOP's One Minute Film program "Glamour Guts" by Jasmine Oore. To celebrate the current roaster of filmmakers working out of the co-op we will also be screening the films made through AFCOOP's 2014 FILM 5 program.

Directly following the screening please join us at the co-op for our annual FILM 5 wrap party!
