Why are cities across North America implementing greenbelts? What will it mean for Halifax to have one?

Clarifying where a city ends and nature begins has implications for transit, health, walkability, water quality, natural heritage, carbon emissions, taxes and the economy. Over the coming years, Halifax will be creating a greenbelt plan. For this plan to be successful, residents should know what it means for them.

This panel will explore the many facets of greenbelts- health, transportation, environment, and economics- in order to provide residents with the knowledge they need to articulate the kind of greenbelt they want for Halifax.

Too often these interconnected issues are discussed in isolation. This panel discussion will be an opportunity to highlight linkages, and offer solutions that take advantage of the ways in which they are co-dependent.
