Diversity Spotlight: Celebrate African Heritage Month

We Can Build a Bridge and Weaving the Story

Wednesday, February 10

7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
FREE ADMISSION

Weaving the Story highlights the lives of six Black Cumberland County seniors who talk about their homes, church and communities. We Can Build a Bridge follows a group of African Canadian teens from East Preston as they interview community elders, trying to bridge between the two generations. Elizabeth Cooke-Sumbu from CANSA and filmmaker Wanda Taylor will lead a Q&A following the screening.

Diversity Spotlight is presented by Pier 21 in partnership with “We Can Build a Bridge” Youth Project and The Cumberland African Nova Scotian Association.  Admission is FREE. Show begins at 7:00 p.m. at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Road, Halifax. For more information please call 902-425-4104 or visit www.pier21.ca.

Pier 21’s Diversity Spotlight encourages cultural groups to screen films at Pier 21 each month that tell their story, while exploring the themes of immigration, diversity, cultural heritage and identity.
