StFX AUT Solidarity Rally

12:30pm
Vendredi Février 1 2013

Venue: Chisholm Park
Cost: Free

The StFX Association of University Teachers (AUT) will hold a solidarity rally on Friday, February 1st at Chisholm Park in Antigonish.

StFXAUT members will be joined by more than a dozen pickets from across Canada and Nova Scotia, representing the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), and the Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers (ANSUT). Other unions on campus (the NSGEU and CAW) and off campus locally have been invited, along with students and community members, to demonstrate their support for the academic workers during their strike.

The event will include the presentation of a $1 million cheque from CAUT to support members if they face any emergency funding issues during the strike. The interest-free loan demonstrates the national support that StFXAUT has, and ensures members they have the means to continue their strike until they are able to negotiate a fair and just settlement for all members.

The event is open to the public and will include creative displays of solidarity.
