Spoken word artist LISHAI headlines CommUNITY

8:00pm
Mercredi Novembre 28 2012

Venue: The Sonic Temple
Address: 1674 Hollis Street

LISHAI is an award-winning poet who uses the power of the pen to connect, reflect and educate. She was raised in Europe and the Middle East, but is a daughter of India's diaspora. As part of her journey, she has competed in national and international poetry slams, including representing Toronto at the Women of the World Poetry Slam, The Vancouver International Poetry Festival and the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2011. Lishai is a member of the 2012 Up From The Roots (Toronto) slam team who took first place honours at this year's Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. Host VERENA RIZG will be joined onstage by multi-instrumentalist MATT MYER - he'll be on hand to collaborate with poets on the OPEN MIC. Admission is by donation, and TANYA DAVIS, VANESSA FURLONG, and GEETER will compete in a charitable poetry slam competition to win the evening's proceeds for their charity of choice.

The CommUNITY series is presented by Poets 4 Change (a project of Wordrhythm Productions) with support from The Canada Council for the Arts.
