Point Pleasant Park Walk for Water

8:30pm
Mercredi Avril 22 2009

Address: Point Pleasant Park
Cost: Free

Aveda, the international natural beauty products and salons company, will hold their annual Earth Month campaign in April 2009. This year's campaign will unite Aveda's network professionals and guests for a single cause: to protect clean water.

Aveda Earth Month calls for strategic local/global action to protect local waterways, empower communities and help make clean water accessible to everyone. The Atlantic Canada Aveda Earth Month partner for 2009 is the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. Salons across the Maritimes are running local fundraisers and water awareness events. See http://nsnt.ca/earthmonth2009/ for a listing of participating salons and events.

One event being run in Halifax, on Earth Day, is the Walk for Water. Did you know the average distance a woman in a developing country walks each day to fetch water is 6km? To raise awareness about the importance of clean water for all, and the work of the Nature Trust, join the Walk for Water, starting at 8:30am, at Point Pleasant Park, on Earth Day. Participate by joining in on this 6km walk, or by supporting a walker from your faviourite Aveda salon, or from the Nature Trust.
