K'jipuktuk (Halifax) - This interview is the first part of a follow-up to Annie Clair's piece 'The Missing, The Mourned - Missing and Murdered Aboriginal peoples in Canada', which appeared in Halifax's 'The Coast'.
The Halifax Media Co-op presents Annie's interviews with the three mothers of missing and murdered Aboriginal peoples that featured in her story.
The first interview, presented here, is with Pam Fillier, a Mi'kmaw from Esgenoopetitj First Nation, also known as Burnt Church, New Brunswick.
Pam is Hilary Bonnell's mother. Hilary went missing on September 5th, 2009, while visiting friends in Burnt Church.
Her body was found two months later.
Her older cousin, Curtis Bonnell, was eventually charged with Hilary's rape and murder and is currently serving a life sentence in prison.
The Halifax Media Co-op will present the second interview with Mandy Metallic, mother of Chris Metallic, tomorrow, September 11th.
