Halifax, and Occupy NS, Celebrate Indigenous Solidarity Day

As Indigenous reserves across the country remain endemically underfunded, and the eye of the media turns fleetingly to the third world conditions in Attawapiskat, about two dozen Haligonians gathered today in Victoria Park to show solidarity for this nation's original inhabitants. Members of Occupy NS were strongly represented, and, as is their fashion, kicked off the ceremony by feeding all in attendance.

Among the other moving speeches, a plea from the Mig'maw to the British, written in 1850, and plucked from the Nova Scotia archives, was read aloud. It only seemed to show how little things have changed in 160 years.
