Racism and Erasure in Our Food Movements

home heirlooms coop will be giving a workshop focused on racism and erasure in the organic and fair trade, urban farming and seed-saving movements in north america.
in this space we will be looking into where these movements originated, which communities are affected by them and how.
the workshop will be very fluid, and what we cover will depend on the participants. it will be a space in which we can all bring our experiences and learn more about where our movements come from, and who they are actually benefiting.
home heirlooms coop works to build and hold safer space for queer women* of colour. we are rurally based, and house a seed library inspired by the work of Dr Vandana Shiva (http://www.navdanya.org/). the person hostessinging this workshop is a queer cis woman of colour latin immigrant and food grower who has been part of the local food movements since 2009.
