October 1 Memorial Lecture: Canada Needs a National Pharmacare Program

1:30pm
- 3:30pm
Thursday October 1 2015

Venue: St. Ignatius Church Hall
Address: 1288 Bedford Highway

Dr. Philip Welch
Canada Needs a National Pharmacare Program – URGENTLY!

This presentation describes the current provision of prescribed medication in this country as a hodge-podge of unfair discrimination against the poorer provinces, accentuated by additional discrimination against people who are economically disadvantaged, including seniors. Canadians also suffer from excessive profit-taking by pharmaceutical companies and by "for-profit" drug plans, excessive cost demands by drug manufacturers, inadequate care and consideration by provincial bodies, and outright refusal and antagonism at the federal level. The overall result is a disgrace to Canada. Remedies will be presented. - Philip Welch
