6:00pm
- 8:00pm
Thursday January 15 2015

Venue: North Branch Public Library
Address: 2285 Gottingen Street
On December 17, 2014 the world witnessed two historic events:  1. the release of the final three members of the Five Cuba Heroes, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, who had been imprisoned unjustly since 1998 in the United States for defendingCuba from terrorism; and 2. The announcement by U.S. President Obama that the United States government is taking steps toward the normalization of relations with Cuba. These events vindicated the resilience of the Cuban Revolution and the determination of the international movement to win the freedom of the Five Cuban Heroes and to end the more than fifty years of U.S. hostility to the Cuban Revolution.  However, despite the events of December 17, 2014 the internationally condemned and illegal U.S. economic blockade of Cubacontinues. Join us in celebration of the release of the Five Heroes and to discuss the significance of Washington's new policy.
