Please join members of the transgender community, our friends, families and allies in marking the 16th Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR).
This year’s ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 20th, at St. Matthew’s United Church, 1479 Barrington Street, Halifax.
The ceremony will be from 6.30 pm to 7.45 pm, followed by a reception, with coffee, tea and light snacks. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
In addition, we invite and encourage everyone to join in a candlelit walk. The walk will leave Victoria Park at 6.00 pm, walking to St. Matthews for the event, in solidarity.
We ask that those participating in the walk gather at Victoria Park (Spring Garden Road and South Park Street) at 5.45 pm.
TDOR, held annually on November 20th, is an internationally recognized day to memorialize those who have been killed as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and acts to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community.
