Rad Pride Halifax and Students Against Israeli Apartheid at Dalhousie University are proud to present:

No Pride in Apartheid: How LGBT rights are being used by Israel to mask human rights abuses in Palestine.

Since the mid-2000s the state of Israel has sponsored efforts to promote itself as an oasis of liberal tolerance in a savage, backwards region. But barely an hour's drive away from gay-friendly Tel Aviv is a very different reality for the Palestinians that live under Israeli occupation: daily violence, humiliation, poverty, military checkpoints, arbitrary arrests, house demolitions, land theft, and a separation wall hundreds of miles long.

In this presentation, the daily abuses of life under Israeli occupation will be discussed. Particular focus will be given from the perspective of queer politics, and how to counter efforts by the occupation's supporters to use LGBT struggles as a means to “pinkwash” its human rights abuses.

Snacks will be provided.

ACCESSIBILITY: The SUB has automatic doors and an elevator, and the 3rd floor has two gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible washrooms. Please contact radpridehalifax@gmail.com or post here if you have specific accessibility questions or needs!
