Youth Action Club Meeting

3:45pm
- 6:45pm
Wednesday March 26 2014

Venue: Ecology Action Centre
Address: Discovery Centre

» More information

The Ecology Action Centre is launching a new initiative for youth (ages 9-18) called YAC: ATACC (Youth Action Club: Adventure Training and Creating Coolness). It’s an after-school environmental youth action group, designed by youth, for youth - meaning YOU have the opportunity to guide and decide what activities we do during our sessions depending upon what you are interested in and what you want to learn about!

Right now, YAC: ATACC is aiming to create an 'Eco-challenge' day on June 7th in collaboration with the "100 in 1 Day" event, to help educate the Halifax community about different ways to take action on the environment. From now until June, the group will get together once a week to learn about a bunch of really neat environmental initiatives, and then use what they learned to create 'challenge stations' for the public to complete on June 7th.  The youth in our focus group came up with this idea because they really wanted to find ways to teach people about the environment, and to learn their own ways of being more active ecological citizens!

We meet every Wednesday from 3:45 to 5:45 pm to learn and take action in the environment around the HRM.  Each week is a new adventure and learning opportunity! As a participant, you get to help plan the upcoming sessions, and we (the facilitators) will help to make it happen.  We will send out an email each week to confirm the activity for the following week and where we will be meeting, along with any permission forms that might be necessary.
