A panel of four will consider aspects of the process of coming out for lgbtq students. The panel will be open to questions from those attending as well as address such matters as assessing the readiness and risks in coming out, as assessing support and services, as establishing comfort levels with family, etc. On the panel will be Sheila MacNeil of Dalhousie’s Counselling Services; Sheena Jamieson, the Support Services Coordinator with The Youth Project; Dean Martin, Residence Life Manager at Howe Hall; and a Dalhousie student. The panel will be facilitated by Carolyn Campbell of the Dalhousie School of Social Work. This is a meeting of the Allies at Dalhousie, the support network for lgbtq students, staff, and facility. All Allies are invited to attend as well as anyone interested in the work of Allies and in learning to be effective supports to students who address concerns in coming out.
