Permaculture & Natural Building Workshop

The first in our Lifeboat Series of 2009 workshops.

July 17th-19th 2009-- Permaculture Centre at Highland Farm,
Belmont NS.

Have fun learning how to build simply with natural materials!
Prepare to get muddy! Bring humour & inspiration!

This hands on workshop, led by Kim Thompson, will focus on construction of an cob oven, and using a variety of earth plasters as a renovation strategy. Permaculture principals will be integrated into all aspects of the weekend.

The workshop begins with an organic supper on Friday, followed by a talk and tour of the newly installed permaculture design site with Alex Denicola. Saturday we will cob construct an outdoor bread oven, a wall, and do lots of earth plastering followed by a campfire/ social (BYO).

Sunday morning we'll complete some of the projects, finish-up with lunch and a closing circle.

All meals are included (we're an organic vegetable farm too!). There are a few room beds, and lots of dry barn space and tenting sites available.

Cost is $120 inclusive. Partial work scholarships available for two people.

Bring sleeping bags, pillow, flashlights--all the usual--and WORKCLOTHES for sure!! We'll be glad to help arrange carpooling too.

DIRECTIONS: (from Halifax)Hwy 101 towards valley--exit 3/ Mt.Uniake--left
--20 min to #215e, turn right towards Brooklyn--5km--bear right thru
village, straight under flashing light(1/2k), bear left at hilltop Y
intersect(1/2k), then bear right(thru another Y) on 215 and then a quick left on Belmont rd. We're 4k up that road on the right. #1217 Belmont rd.--drive back to 3rd barn. you can also get to Brooklyn via #14 from 101 exit 5.

There will be a Lifeboat Series workshop on August 30-31, and another October 3-4, 2009. These will focus on Permaculture design principles, and includes lots of hands on learning too.
