Breaking it Down: Debunking Canadian Media and the War on Terror
An evening of discussion and analysis

Hosted by the Palestine Solidarity Society

The recent Israeli massacre in Gaza claimed over 1300 lives. Across Canada and around the world, citizens took to the streets in solidarity with Palestinians. Tens of thousands of Canadian citizens of all nationalities, ethnicities, and religions, denounced the most recent war crimes of a state that has carried out an illegal occupation for over 40 years.

How did the Canadian mainstream media cover the recent assault on Gaza, and the Canadian response? How has the Canadian media assisted in the creation of racist stereotypes of Arabs and Muslims, depicting them as terrorists? How do we equip ourselves to be more media literate, and what are the alternatives?

Join journalist David Parker, host of Resistance Radio on CKDU-FM and writer for The Dominion and members of the Palestine Solidarity Society for an evening presentation and workshop. Come prepared to think critically and engage in discussion. Learn what the mainstream media is not telling you about the Israel-Palestine conflict.
