The IncrEDIBLE Picnic

Sunday August 19 2012 (All day)

Venue: Waterfront

» More information

Select Nova Scotia – the province’s Buy Local campaign - is inviting community organizations to apply for sponsorships to host a local food picnic during the month of August 2012. The Select Nova Scotia Picnics will be the cornerstone of the ‘Summer Fresh’ campaign promoting the many benefits of buying local to consumers.

The Select Nova Scotia Picnics in 2012 will be organized as community meals hosted in beautiful outdoor settingsinstead of coordinating multiple exhibitors to sell food.  Eight picnics will be sponsored around Nova Scotia (outside of Halifax) for up to $1,500 towards food and event costs. Select Nova Scotia will be coordinating the picnic on the Halifax Waterfront on Sunday, August 19 as the flagship event.

Community meals are a tradition in Nova Scotia where neighbours can share a meal together and raise funds for projects. These benefits are enhanced when they feature local ingredients. The goal of the Select Nova Scotia Picnics is to create an authentic opportunity for Nova Scotians to learn about NS producers and enjoy delicious local foods in a social and convivial gathering.
