Following the success of our previous State of Our Unions event in February, the Halifax Media Co-op is thrilled to be presenting a second panel event and public discussion on the topic of the labour movement and union action in Nova Scotia. Please join us during this free event to explore some of the issues impacting unions today, and how they are working toward improving the future of labour workers in this province.

Panelists include:

  • Miles States, President of Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) local 851000 (Airport Commissionaires), speaking about ongoing issues at the Halifax international Airport;
  • Kelly Murphy, Vice-President of the Halifax-Dartmouth District Labour Council, speaking about the recent cuts to youth mental health workers at the IWK;
  • Tony Tracy, Atlantic Representative of the Canadian Labour Congress, speaking about union involvement in the broader community;
  • Jeannie Baldwin, Regional Executive Vice-President of PSAC - Atlantic, speaking on the effects of the recently-released federal budget on government employees.

Keep updated here over the coming days as we add profiles of our guest speakers!
