An estimated 1000 students marched through downtown Halifax on Februrary 2nd, 2011 for the Student Day of Action. Students called for the government not to proceed with the 3% tuition hike and 4% funding cut to universities.

The Nova Scotia Post-Secondary Education Coalition took the fight against deregulating tuition fees into provincial government's living room last week to announce that, according to their findings, they have the support of a vast majority of the province.

Despite below-freezing temperatures, event organizer Jocelyne Tranquilla says that Tent City was a general success.

Originally scheduled for October 16th and 17th, the event was postponed due to heavy rain. Despite the day change, dozens of people gathered in the South Commons to protest what they say is a lack of affordable housing in Halifax.
