In a case of tradition born of necessity, the Halifax Peace Coalition kept its annual sunrise vigil for peace at the gates of Stadacona Air Force Base in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Martin Luther King's birthday. It is on Stadacona where an in-base Lockheed Martin office is the ultimate blurring of lines between corporation, military, and state.

Yesterday morning, two mothers, one a grandmother, proudly held their peaceful convictions up to early-morning military personnel, and reminded youth in snowsuits, on their way to school, of the importance of the day.

Please enjoy the following audio featuring two members of the HPC, Janet Maybe and Tamara Lorincz.

The office on the base

I heard from a Lockheed engineer that the office on the air base is a trade-off for them renting out all the office space in Dartmouth
